CHILDREN MOBILE LIBRARY

Childfocus Ghana is seeking a financial grant to the tune of $2500 to scale up our children mobile reading library project efforts in rural areas in  the Ningo/ Prampram District,  the Greater  Accra  region of Ghana which will offer a part time children volunteer aided reading facilities brought to children in the community.

Objectives

  • To promote learning, reading, word pronunciation, writing cultures of the children by offering them facilities to help them realize their dreams.
  • To facilitate the formation of reading clubs in five communities to offer regular volunteer led face to face reading, word pronunciation and spelling among 900 children within a period of 12 months.
  • The purpose of the grant is to provide the logistics needs of the project ranging from folding table and chairs, stationery, books, firm boxes to keeping the books, teaching aids, tricycles to move the books from one community to the other etc.

With the mobile library brought to the door post of the children, there will be significant improvement in the lives of the children alleviating the high illiteracy issues in community. These children with the support of committed volunteers will be able to read, pronounce, spell words including writing efficiently and effectively.

While the need for resources for the Mobile Library project may our primary focus currently, other projects that are underway include,

Awareness campaign on sexual reproductive health

A series of programs on reproductive health and rights dubbed “effects of teenage pregnancy, STIs and HIV/AIDS are being organized for school pupils. In addition to the program, students are being given counseling on various issues that affects them.

Caregivers training and family development

Childfocus is training all caregivers on the relevance of child care, child education, child abuse and parental skills. The purpose is to expose all caregivers to the basic training that is needed to nurture their children to be responsible individuals and contribute to the welfare of society.  The purpose is to facilitate and promote family discussion between parent and children.

Awareness campaign on hygiene and sanitation

Childfocus Ghana is embarking on a series of hygiene and sanitation related programs in schools and rural communities on the prevention of killer diseases and water treatment. The purpose is to make children agents of change at homes. These efforts will help encourage enthusiasm among younger generation to achieve a cleaner and greener environment. Picture of this will be posted on our website and social media accounts.
